The Matenadaran is one of the world’s largest repositories of ancient manuscripts, preserving more than 23,000 medieval manuscripts, archives, and historical documents — a treasury of Armenia’s centuries-old intellectual heritage.
Matenadaran functions not only as a museum, but also as a research institute dedicated to the restoration and study of manuscripts, paleography, and cultural history.
With the Yerevan Card, entry to the museum’s permanent exhibitions is free.
