Experience Armenia’s cultural and historical wonders on a one-day journey from Yerevan. This nine-hour tour takes you to Khor Virap Monastery, Charents Arch, Garni Temple, the UNESCO-listed Geghard Monastery, and Azat Reservoir. Book this private tour and explore the land of ancient legends and biblical history.

Stop 1: Khor Virap Monastery, located in the historic city of Artashat, is closely linked to Saint Gregory the Illuminator, who was imprisoned here in a pit filled with venomous creatures. The current monastery, built in the 17th century, stands on the site of this former royal prison.

Stop 2: Azat Reservoir, one of Armenia’s most scenic spots, reflects the sky and clouds on its surface, creating breathtaking views. Nearby, the Symphony of Stones, a protected natural monument, showcases striking basalt columns.

Stop 3: Geghard Monastery, partially carved into the rock, was founded in the 4th century AD around a sacred spring. It is named after the Spear of Longinus, which pierced Jesus on the cross. This medieval masterpiece is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Stop 4:Garni Temple, built in the 1st century AD, is Armenia’s only surviving pagan temple. Once the summer residence of King Trdat III’s sister, it was dedicated to Mithra, the Sun God, before being damaged by an earthquake in 1679.

Stop 5: Not far from the temple of Garni (about 10 minutes walk), there is a cozy local restaurant with an amazing view of the temple, where you can relax and take part in the master class of tasting freshly baked lavash – traditional Armenian flatbread.

Stop 6: Charents Arch, located between Garni and Geghard, offers a stunning panoramic view of Mount Ararat, making it a perfect stop for admiration and photography.
